The First International Colloquium of the Consortium for
East Asian Architectural Design Research (CEADER)

Since the early years of the 21st century, design research in cognate fields such as architecture, digital design, industrial design, landscape design, and product design has become increasingly important in helping to address the emerging urban-rural, political-social and biological-environmental challenges around the world, as well as in responding to the rapidly growing applications of emerging technologies in everyday life. In this context, design research now sits at the frontier in both academic education and professional practice in these various fields.

To support the expansion of design research specifically within the East Asian region, this conference being held in Hong Kong will provide the first opportunity to examine and discuss this transformation within a broad public forum. It will enable scholars and practitioners from architecture and other design disciplines who are involved in ground-breaking design research to present their work openly and in an interdisciplinary/cross-disciplinary way.
